About this artwork
This painting originates from a holloway in Derbyshire, which was an old pack horse route, worn with centuries of travellers "Tangle wood Path" has a sense of mystery, quietness and solitude with a feeling of history and wondering about the footsteps that travelled down this path in years gone by. I like walking along these tree tunnels with the branches arching overhead and seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. There is something optimistic…

An original artwork, one of a kind, this painting has been created with high quality acrylic paints on deep edged canvas. I begin with observation of the place making notes and taking photographs to work from in the studio. From these beginnings I work intuitively, painting some base layers with a brush and then impasto techniques layer on layer applied with a palette knife. The painting continues round the sides, a frame is not needed and it is ready to hang.
