About this artwork
Inspired by the stunning Dromara Hills, Amanda's local area, this piece was painted while Watt was recovering from a horrendous injury that hospitalised her for 12 weeks. The piece contains undulating hills representing the ups and downs of life; aspects of nature in all their glory; and the bright colours of hope, showing that the artist is on her way back to the physical and mental strength she exhibited before her injury.

Amanda Watt is an experienced artist with international exposure. Her paintings are vibrant interior scenes and semi-abstract figurative and landscape works. Watt is inspired by Gauguin’s neon colors, Japanese woodblock prints, cubism, and the expressionists’ use of color. She cites the pattern-making of Gustav Klimt and the highly stylized figures in Tom Wesselman and Alex Katz's paintings as influences, as well as Rainer Fetting’s use of bold color and gestural brushstrokes.
