What the B*bble delves into the profound contrast between two seemingly disparate entities: soap bubbles and figures clad in resplendent silver armor. Soap bubbles, historically emblematic of fragility and the transient nature of life in classical art, stand in stark opposition to the robust, unyielding presence of armored figures.… These works explore the dynamic interplay, where the power dynamics between the fragile bubbles and the ostensibly invincible armored figures shift and evolve. Amber Geuns (born 1999) is a Belgian artist who works primarily in the mediums of painting and drawing. She earned her master’s degree in painting from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp in 2022, where she developed a strong foundation and a distinctive artistic style. At the core of her practice lies the design and creation of life-sized costumes, each constructed to embody the characters within her paintings. These costumes enable her to immerse herself fully in the world she aims to depict, allowing for precise prediction of movements and interactions within the scenes. The inspiration for her work is drawn from a variety of sources. She is particularly drawn to the contrast between light and dark, strength and vulnerability. A defining feature of her work is the anonymity of the characters she portrays. This deliberate choice serves to shift the focus from individual identity to the emotional resonance of form and fabric.
