About this artwork
In 2023, I finally clawed my way back to the surface. I had just enough clarity to secure an ID and a one-way flight to Spokane, but the universe had other plans. A 4-hour layover in 114-degree Las Vegas heat turned into a 4-month odyssey. I found myself in a massive, abandoned house filled with a tribe of beautiful hustlers—painters, musicians, and actors.
Living on the edge, I turned to acrylic paint pens; they were easier to manage on the street… than liquid paints. I spent three months obsessively drawing this self-portrait on the back of my white nylon backpack. It depicts a regressed, younger version of me, fractured into multiple faces to mirror the terrifying confusion of finally waking up from a three-year fog.
This remix heightens the original 12x18 "backpack relic" with the electric, neon clarity that Las Vegas burned into my soul. It’s a map of a man feeling everything again for the first time. Hand-signed and numbered. The original BP fragment is in my private collection.
