About this artwork
This series was born in January, in Mar del Plata, during days of seaside contemplation. I was inspired by photographs of flowers I took, and by others that resonated with me from Romanticist paintings, where the natural and the symbolic intertwine.
Against a deep dark background, the flowers appear intense and vibrant, as if their colors were breathing in the darkness. Some seem to communicate in a silent language, with subtle gestures, proximity,… echoes.
There's something sensual about their open forms, about the tension between fragility and power, about the way they inhabit the space, as if allowing themselves to be seen and simultaneously protecting themselves. Painting them was like entering that intimate, silent world of flowers, where everything is contained movement and desire for light.

Ana Abregu is an Argentine visual artist trained in drawing, painting, and printmaking. She explores painting, printmaking, ceramics, light installations, and animated projections.
