About this artwork
This painting inspired me to do impasto technique like Vincent Van Gogh did. I live in Amsterdam and can often go to his museum here and admire the period when he started to use element of color more boldly. I love trees and branches, just looking at branches I can also get inspired. I use my signature young moon and circular shape to bring the art expression more to my sensibility.

Ana Kalacanovic came to the United States to break free from the civil war in former Yugoslavia, and chose to pursue art classes. Although she had no experience with art, she performed well in her fine arts classes and decided to pursue it as a career. Her work is inspired by the concept of a Creature, that she describes as harmful and curious. Her energetic, large-scale pieces are borne of an attempt to capture the essence of this Creature on canvas.
