About this artwork
"A Nod to Frida"
I have always admired strong and brave women. Especially those who dealt with painting at a time when it was difficult. One of them was Frida. Of course, she is very famous. I didn't want to paint a copy of her portrait. I rather thought of interpreting it. I hope I succeeded. Who knows, maybe I will paint more great female painters soon.
In this piece, I've reimagined the iconic Frida with a twist of my own. Her gaze is as captivating… as ever, framed by those famous eyebrows that could probably start their own fashion trend. The lush, tropical leaves behind her? Well, let's just say I got a bit carried away at the garden center. But hey, who wouldn't want a backdrop that screams "jungle chic"? It's like Frida decided to take a vacation in a botanical garden and forgot to leave. Don't worry, Frida, we've all been there!
Ana Smarz, an accomplished painter, embraces a range of techniques honed through extensive artistic education. Her style is fluid, choosing mediums that best express the thematic heart of each piece, with a predilection for movement and nature. Her works pulsate with raw emotions, inviting viewers to experience the visceral challenges she brilliantly overcomes on canvas.
My works are in private collections in Austria, Poland, USA, France, Germany and Sweden. All my works are signed by Ana
