About this artwork
This drawing focuses on a luxury watch, emphasising its reflective surfaces and detailed components that make the mechanism work.
The process started with a graphite underdrawing to define proportions and key elements like the bezel, dial, and creased leather bracelets. Using coloured pencils, I built layers to represent polished metal, glass, and engraved details. Special attention was given to reflections and small surface imperfections to achieve… realistic depth.
The leather texture was challenging to achieve, given its very tiny creases and texture details, but it was made possible by interchangeably using soft core pencils for the background colour and hard core pencils for the fine lines and creases.
The completed drawing emphasises the watch as a physical object, highlighting its design, texture, and surface qualities rather than its symbolic value.
