About this artwork
Colors in the Fog is part of the Origins Abstraction collection, a reflection on the primordial memory of the sign. The surface, constructed in bas-relief on a plaster background, embraces a web of dark lines that branch out like archaic trajectories, evoking interior maps and ancestral flows. The circular cores and organic forms, punctuated by sober yet vibrant chromatic inserts, recall totemic symbols and cells of an original language, suspended…
between abstraction and archetype. The use of oils, spices, and oxides introduces a living, dense material that seems to emerge from the mists of time, while the muted hues suggest a balance between revelation and concealment. The work thus establishes a dialogue between contemporary gesture and prehistoric roots, offering a vision in which the past resurfaces as a sensitive and current trace.

Andrea Benetti is the author of the Manifesto of Neo-Rock Art, presented at the 53rd Venice Biennale. His works have been acquired by international art collections and museums (United Nations, Vatican, Quirinale, Chamber of Deputies, etc.). Several universities have conducted graduate research on his art. He has collaborated with many universities to organize exhibitions and seminars on Neo-Rock Painting (Universities of Bari, Bergamo, Bologna, Ferrara, Johns Hopkins University, Lecce, Messina, Roma Tre, and Venice). In 2020, he won the "Nettuno d'Oro" Award from the city of Bologna. His biography appears in major encyclopedias, including Treccani, De Agostini, and WikiArt, and is translated into 45 languages on Wikipedia.
