About this artwork
With "Girandola magica" (2020), Andrea Benetti continues his exploration of Neo-Cave art with a visual language that combines archaic symbolism and contemporary sensibility. The composition unfolds around a central radial, almost floral shape, from which signs and figures radiate, reminiscent of constellations, tribal dances, or astral maps. The use of oil and cocoa on a plaster bas-relief creates a vibrant, tactile surface, where each element appears…
engraved and then revealed. The earthy tones, enriched with inserts of white, blue, and olive green, evoke a connection with nature and ancestral materials. The stylized anthropomorphic signs, geometric shapes, and sinuous trajectories suggest a hidden order, a sacred balance between humanity, symbol, and the universe. Girandola magica is not just a pictorial work, but a device for collective memory: an invitation to rediscover the primitive strength of the sign, the joy of color, and the evocative power of the original form.

Andrea Benetti is the author of the Manifesto of Neo-Rock Art, presented at the 53rd Venice Biennale. His works have been acquired by international art collections and museums (United Nations, Vatican, Quirinale, Chamber of Deputies, etc.). Several universities have conducted graduate research on his art. He has collaborated with many universities to organize exhibitions and seminars on Neo-Rock Painting (Universities of Bari, Bergamo, Bologna, Ferrara, Johns Hopkins University, Lecce, Messina, Roma Tre, and Venice). In 2020, he won the "Nettuno d'Oro" Award from the city of Bologna. His biography appears in major encyclopedias, including Treccani, De Agostini, and WikiArt, and is translated into 45 languages on Wikipedia.
