About this artwork
In this 2020 work, Andrea Benetti proposes a profound reflection on the relationship between man and time, through a symbolic language inspired by rock art, revisited in a contemporary key. “Journey into history” is configured as a visionary map, in which stylized figures of animals, human beings and shapes that recall spaceships intertwine in a story suspended between myth and memory. The bright colors, combined with the materiality of the plaster…
bas-relief, give life to a surface full of dynamism and contrasts. The use of oxides intensifies the sense of antiquity and mystery, as if the work held traces of lost civilizations. Benetti invites the observer on a mental journey, a symbolic path that crosses the evolution of human consciousness, from the primordial gesture engraved on the rock to the visions of the unknown. A work that blends archaic spirituality and futuristic vision.

Andrea Benetti is the author of the Manifesto of Neo-Rock Art, presented at the 53rd Venice Biennale. His works have been acquired by international art collections and museums (United Nations, Vatican, Quirinale, Chamber of Deputies, etc.). Several universities have conducted graduate research on his art. He has collaborated with many universities to organize exhibitions and seminars on Neo-Rock Painting (Universities of Bari, Bergamo, Bologna, Ferrara, Johns Hopkins University, Lecce, Messina, Roma Tre, and Venice). In 2020, he won the "Nettuno d'Oro" Award from the city of Bologna. His biography appears in major encyclopedias, including Treccani, De Agostini, and WikiArt, and is translated into 45 languages on Wikipedia.
