About this artwork
“Red ivy preserves the trace of a plant as a unique imprint. The red lines emerge from the dark background and capture a moment in which material, gesture and memory come together. The monotype remains open, fragmentary and focuses on the silent presence of the plant.”

Andrea Finck is a contemporary painter with a background in archaeology and ancient art history. Her work explores themes of landscape, time, and cultural memory.
Starting with natural and coastal landscapes, multi-layered pictorial spaces emerge in which color, material, and layering overlap. Landscape is understood as a vehicle of time and perception, not as a mere representation.
In her work, painting and printmaking combine to create open processes between observation, transformation, and dissolution.
Her works have been shown in national and international exhibitions and are held in private collections.
“Your work transforms memory, archaeology, and material process into artworks that feel both intellectually rich and deeply tangible.” -Kurt Beers, London
