About this artwork
Evening stroll by the water. The sky glows, and I become transparent.
North beach, view of Hallig Südfall, evening atmosphere.
The image in the format 150x100cm is a photo print on aluminum dibond, matt laminated, in a white maple shadow gap frame.
About the series: North Sea Minimalism
Even on the journey, by train or car, something happens within me. A sense of relaxation sets in, my gaze wanders freely over the vast, flat landscape. The… sea isn't yet visible, the wind can't be felt, and yet there is already that familiar feeling of arrival, of letting go. The first walk on the beach, under the vast sky, makes many worries and thoughts seem distant. The restless voices fade away; I am simply here. I am in the landscape, and the landscape is within me. I am at peace.
The camera is my notebook, the pictures are sketches. Sometimes I manage to capture something that reflects my inner and outer state.

Andreas Döring, a self-taught photographer with a background in mathematical physics, draws on his academic background to explore both natural and urban landscapes. His technique is reductive and seeks clarity by reducing scenes to their essential elements through a uniquely subjective lens. Stylistically, he finds beauty in structure and ambiguity, balancing analytical rigor with visual curiosity. Döring's photographs evoke contemplative emotions and invite the viewer into a reflective space where the boundary between observer and observed dissolves, and the landscape becomes a catalyst for self-exploration and memory.
