About this artwork
Andreas Dullnig finds his inspiration for this painting from extensive research in fashion photography. At the beginning there is an underpainting with the brush. Then an exciting process of dissolution begins. With the help of color snippets from acrylic and paper, Dullnig works on an expression that gives the initially neutral subject an almost heroic character. The luminosity of the portrait is enhanced by the natural-looking local color

« I am briefly satisfied when I manage to detach the image from my original intention and surprise myself. »
Andreas Dullnig is an Austrian artist whose works have been featured in numerous solo exhibitions nationally. His compositions center around the portrayal of people, either through portraits or groups of people who are engaged in a certain action. In order to detach the image from its realistic idea, Dullnig begins a piece in such a fashion. One the picture is indeed realistic, the process of abstraction begins through the interaction of technology and chance.
