About this artwork
My adaptation of Norman Rockwell's iconic work "The Problem We All Live With" shifts the focus from the civil rights movement and racial discrimination in the USA to the problem of anti-Semitism. By depicting a Jewish child in traditional clothing being escorted by US marshals, the basic composition of the original is retained, but the symbolism is directed in a new direction. The Jewish child not only represents an ethnic or religious minority,… but becomes a symbol of the centuries-long persecution and oppression of the Jewish community. His hunched posture and serious facial expression refer to the burden that this community bears ... Drawing ready framed, with passepartout, in a magnetic frame from the Halbe brand. Final format: 55 x 70 cm Profile: 13.5 mm front width, 27 mm wall depth, medium gray matt, passepartout: ivory, thickness 1.5 mm, sheet format: 35 x 50 cm
« Even in my early youth, I wanted to be a great artist. I don't know why. »
