About this artwork
The piece is another of my love of the Moon paintings. An Orange moon (lunar surface) as a backdrop for an evening in the tropics.
All art with Earth’s Moon as a muse are created in basic phases of creation. After sketching each piece in a likeness of the Moon, layers of modeling paste becomes the foundation of the lunar surface. After the surface foundation hundreds of thousands of paint hand/finger/brush dabs are critical to the appearance… of an uneven, notched or createred surface. Classic art strikes are not part of the completed project appearance.
« I am a self-taught oil painter who seeks to capture your eye as a portal to that part of the brain which can lead to interest, likes, wants... »
Exciting US painter Andy Hollimon has never taken an art class in his life. It was after military service and a business career, that Hollimon discovered his natural gift for painting. Working mainly with oil paints, Hollimon is a realist painter, but admits to approaching realism with 'on canvas twists'. Such twists include surprising color schemes, moments of abstraction, and perspective shifts. Hollimon's paintings are luminous, mysterious, and joyful. Full of revelations, they invoke delight and invite contemplation.
