About this artwork
Glad Majesty celebrates the quiet elegance and luminous beauty of white flowers — a color I have always been deeply drawn to. To me, white petals are never simply white; they hold an entire world of subtle violets, blues, soft pinks, reflected light, and shadow.
This transparent watercolor was inspired by the graceful unfolding of gladiolus blooms and the sense of serenity they carry. I wanted the painting to feel both powerful and delicate, allowing… the petals to fill the composition with movement, softness, and light.
Using layered transparent washes, I explored the challenge and beauty of painting white in watercolor — preserving luminosity while revealing the hidden colors that bring the flower to life. The vibrant background contrasts with the softness of the petals, creating a feeling of radiance and quiet majesty.
For me, Glad Majesty is about presence, grace, and the extraordinary beauty found in simplicity.
