About this artwork
While largely abstract, it is also obvious that Embellished is a floral painting, with its realistically detailed centre and the changing degrees of luminosity in the oil paint that create depth and reflection throughout the canvas. The rich hues vary from the darker shades of plum, blackcurrant and port wine to the lighter misty amethyst, lavender and wisteria colours as the petals stretch away more softly and abstractly toward the edges.
