In Ann’s abstract realism series of oil paintings, she focuses in on realistic detail at the centre of the canvas, while the natural form of her subject becomes gradually more abstract as it stretches to the edges. This is true of Magical Moment, a framed observational study of a flower brought to life with a tightly closed bud as the centre focal point. The viewer’s eye is lead into the smallest and innermost layers here, which will eventually unfurl.…
From there, the filaments and anthers reach outward, curving and overlapping in some places, guiding the eye from one to the next around the organic circular shape they form.

Ann Bubis, a painter and sculptor from the United Kingdom, has exhibited in Germany, Czechia, the United States and the U.K. As an intuitive artist, her abstract and realistic pieces are a response to global issues concerning the environment and ‘throw-away society’, as well as ancestral history, to name a few. Bubis works comprise varying styles and media, with her current focus on framed mosaics and sculptures which she calls ‘juxtapositions’.
