About this artwork
“Vienna in Strauss Time” is a vibrant homage to the city during the Johann Strauss Year 2025, capturing Vienna as if it were bathed in waltz rhythms and midnight-blue music. In this painting I imagine Strauss’s melodies spilling out of the concert halls and into the streets: fractured architectural forms, glowing blues and golds, and the sweeping gesture of the violin all echo the swirling movement of a waltz and the festive energy of a city celebrating…
his 200th birthday. By translating sound into color and rhythm on the canvas, I invite viewers to step into my personal Vienna—a place where history, music, and night-time city lights merge—so they can feel as if they are walking through the city with Strauss’s music as their constant companion.
