About this artwork
In these turbulent times, people feel the need for a place of refuge, a protected space in a safe location. An aesthetically beautiful place can provide a counterpoint to the current chaos and destruction in the world.
We all need that safe place where we can rest and rejuvenate, to gain strength and energy for new things. A garden is such a special space, a refuge from the fast-paced and demanding pace of life, and also always a little paradise—as… captured in my picture.
My picture shows a modern jetty that seems to float above the water's surface. The loungers invite you to sit down and listen to the sounds of the garden and watch the water flow, or simply close your eyes and enjoy the peace and quiet. The bushes in the background shield the garden from the outside and protect the sanctuary.
Antje Wanderer-Oberhaus, a former industrial engineer, is a painting artist who works with acrylics, sand and occasionally neon colors. She uses a variety of techniques to paint expressively bright flowers and garden scenes, even combining photo printing in her "Blue November" series. Her works always radiate an aura of hope, a cheerful and motivating ray of light amidst the dark challenges of our time.
