About this artwork
In the flower pictures I try to bring out the special features of the blossoms. A special challenge is translating the small blossoms to the size of the canvas.
The cornflower originally comes from the edges of fields, but today it can also be found in many gardens, where it adds natural charm. The cornflower has bright blue flowers that are raised up on a long stem.
A cornflower has many delicate petals with a lot of dynamism of its own; light… and shadow change their color. I tried to take that into account when making my flower. The color was applied in several layers with a spatula and brush.
