The painting is part of my mini-series “Small Islands – Seasons.”
In “Small Islands – Summer” two small, artificial islands appear again, surrounded by a ring of rusty Corten steel and lying freely in a lake.
The water shimmers in intense turquoise and azure shades, instantly conveying a sense of summery lightness. On the horizon, the shore is outlined in lush summer green, above which stretches a cloudless, light blue sky. On the left-hand… island rises a slender palm tree, symbolizing tropical farawayness. On the right-hand island, two delicate, neon-yellow lounge chairs invite you to relax in the sun before you take a dip in the refreshing water.

Antje Wanderer-Oberhaus, a former industrial engineer, is a painting artist who works with acrylics, sand and occasionally neon colors. She uses a variety of techniques to paint expressively bright flowers and garden scenes, even combining photo printing in her "Blue November" series.
