About this artwork
Absences. What we lacked in the period of the first lockdown, as if the objects of common use represented in the still lifes symbolized, strangely, our previous life. A life perhaps marked by inhuman rhythms,
unfair, chaotic or too calm but, ultimately, our life. The empty shapes of the objects that were supposed to represent the center of the composition make our dismay, our inner emptiness in the face of a situation never seen before.

Antonio De Nardis
Italy
« Everything is worthy of attention, everything is "sacred", like the breath, the silence, but also the cries of human pain. »
Antonio De Nardis is a painter and draftsman based in Italy whose works have been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions nationally. He describes the only central theme marked in his works as being the "reality of things", filtered and shaped by the truth, as well as the reality of the countless states of consciousness and sensations. In essence, De Nardis' bold compositions portray reality as it does not appear.
