About this artwork
fabulous three-headed monster from Greek mythology, son of Typhon and Echidna guarding Hades.
In describing the encounter with the monster (Inf.VI 13-33) Dante has well in mind the verses of the Aeneid. He has Virgil throw it
in the "hungry pipes", here represented as so many organ pipes, not honey, but a handful of earth
to strengthen the flesh-earth relationship, which the monster devours. In the comedy "cruel and different" fair becomes
the… guardian of the circle of gluttons...
Published in ContempoArte Magazine of May 2022 (see additional images).
The work is made, like the others in the series, on 380 g canvas mounted on a 1.6 cm thick stretcher frame.

« Everything is worthy of attention, everything is "sacred", like the breath, the silence, but also the cries of human pain. »
Antonio De Nardis is a painter and draftsman based in Italy whose works have been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions nationally. He describes the only central theme marked in his works as being the "reality of things", filtered and shaped by the truth, as well as the reality of the countless states of consciousness and sensations. In essence, De Nardis' bold compositions portray reality as it does not appear.
