"Lost" embodies the heart of my project "The Unbearable Lightness of Silence".
Inspired by the fusion of the introspective solitude of Romanticism and the meditative "emptiness" of Eastern philosophies, this work features a single, isolated coniferous tree, almost completely absorbed by a thick white fog. The absence of a horizon and visual context isolates the subject in a moment of pure, silent presence.
I hope the viewer experiences a calm… and meditative sense of disorientation, an invitation to "lose themselves" in the silence and reflect on our relationship with the immensity and fragility of existence. I chose the pictorialist style for its ability to capture the mood and evocative power of the ineffable, and the print on fine art cotton paper to give this ephemeral vision a tactile and enduring quality.
Antonio Milesi is a contemporary pictorialist photographer strongly inspired by Romantic painting. He investigates the mystery that surrounds every form and the intrinsic beauty of nature, from the smallest detail to the grandeur of the landscape.
His educational path is atypical: after completing a scientific course that led him to a degree in Economics, he cultivated a deep interest in the mystery of the human soul, meditation, and Eastern cultures: influences that are reflected in his artistic sensibility and his mysterious perception of the world.
He developed his solid photographic technique by working professionally as a portrait and still life photographer in the studio. This experience gave him the skills needed to translate his vision into nuanced images, where light, shadow, and composition merge for the viewer to reflect more deeply. Revealing what vibrates beyond appearances.
