About this artwork
Inspired by the wildlife and landscapes of Scotland, Steady Within Silence explores themes of resilience, calm, and enduring strength. The Highland cow, with its gentle presence and unmistakable character, has long been a symbol of the rugged beauty of the Highlands.
Through layers of texture, expressive brushwork, and atmospheric colour, I sought to capture more than the physical appearance of the animal. Emerging from a soft and suggestive landscape,… the cow becomes a reflection of quiet confidence and the strength that can be found in stillness.
Part of my Highland Series, this painting celebrates the connection between wildlife and place, inviting viewers to pause, reflect, and experience the sense of peace and grounding found within the natural world.

Currently completing advanced training with the Milan Art Institute and having studied with The Interior Design Institute, Arlene continues to develop a distinctive visual language that invites viewers to pause, reflect, and form their own personal connection with the work.
