About this artwork
This painting is part of my Highland Series, inspired by the wildlife and atmosphere of Scotland. I was drawn to the wolf as a symbol of intuition, resilience, and quiet strength.
Rather than creating a traditional wildlife portrait, I wanted to capture a sense of presence and emotion. Through layers of texture, colour, and abstraction, the wolf emerges from its surroundings, creating a connection between the animal and the landscape it inhabits.…
Soft passages of abstraction balance more detailed elements, allowing the work to sit between realism and imagination. Through this piece, I explore themes of stillness, instinct, and our connection to the natural world, inviting viewers to pause and find their own story within the painting.
Arlene Peters is a self-taught contemporary mixed-media artist based in Scotland. Drawing inspiration from nature, emotion, and the Scottish landscape, she creates atmospheric paintings that blend abstraction and realism.
Working intuitively with layers of acrylic, oil, and texture, Arlene allows each piece to evolve naturally, creating space for mood, memory, and storytelling to emerge. Her work often explores themes of stillness, connection, resilience, and the quiet beauty found within both nature and everyday life.
Currently completing advanced training with the Milan Art Institute and having studied with The Interior Design Institute, Arlene continues to develop a distinctive visual language that invites viewers to pause, reflect, and form their own personal connection with the work.
