"Princess Pool"
Many years ago, I’ve been visiting a friend of mine who lived on Maui, Hawaii that time. One day he took me to the land of one of his neighbors for a swim. Passing some meadows, a small wood, lots of ginger flowers finally we reached a hidden natural pool at the rainy coast of Maui. He told me in ancient times it used to be reserved for the princesses. Any unauthorized access would have been punished with death. Today it’s still… there as a beautiful secret pool on the private property of a small farm. Only few people know about it and are allowed to go there. The place is an oasis of stillness and serenity almost untouched since the old days. We spent a beautiful afternoon there.
Back at home I felt like painting this awesome place. The landscape shows pretty much the real location. The two wahine sitting by the side of the pool are part of my fantasy. I wanted to give the same taste of ancient Hawaii to the viewer like I had it visiting this enchanted place.
