"How little we know about the reasons why a child ends up being a painter!"
Well, I do know...
I owe it to my friend Lucas Videla,
who was going to be a painter and ended up being a lawyer or a poet... or a writer... not even he knows... but whom I value not only as a friend, one of the few I have left in Argentina, but also as the fuse that lit an explosive desire for the smell of paint and magical rooms where I could recreate strange things,… or simply paint, just because!
Alchemy of seduction...
He took me to his room to look at his paintings; and there I saw books
stacked, but not books by a thirteen-year-old: Dostoevsky's The Brothers Karamazov or the biography of Henry Ford, and in English...
Accessories for a child's head?
His Hawaiian shirts brought from Miami by his father, which
we wore at quinceañera parties, and the strange bottles of
perfumes that her father also gave her.
A den of fortunes, which held me for hours.
