About this artwork
In creating this piece, I delved into the rawness of human emotion, working with oil and charcoal to capture the depth of the subject's psyche. The tape helped me segment the composition, drawing viewers' eyes to the stark contrasts. This figurative work expresses vulnerability and introspection, inviting the observer to connect with the human condition. It will bring a thought-provoking and soul-stirring energy to any space it inhabits.

« I observe people and dogs. Life seems pretty difficult for many, so I focus on daily life to give hope, insight, and the feeling that there are people who care. »
Had she not become a painter, Astrid Oudheusden would have been a psychologist, as human interaction and human beings fascinate her to no end. The award-winning painter, who resides in the Netherlands, feels that there is no limit to what can be accomplished on canvas or paper. Oudheusden employs acrylics, gouache, watercolors, markers, charcoal, collage, and pencils - whatever material that allows her to make fluid movements when creating.
