About this artwork
Mandrill is a mask sculpture from the Fauns series. Hybrid with a human face decorated with real cow horns (and not goat horns), it evokes the multiplicity of being, the belonging of man to the animal kingdom and questions a mythological figure transposed into a future after the fall. I first modeled the face in clay, molded it and then cast it in plaster. I then painted the motif of the face in watercolor and acrylic then I carried out the work…
of composition and collage from recycled elements, toys, beads, jewelry, various objects. Finally, I covered the sculpture with clear, glossy epoxy resin. I attached a metal rod to the back of the sculpture to easily hang it on the wall using a peg.
