About this artwork
"Har Har Mahadev" means: Everyone is Shiva, the Divine lives in all. This saying was sung loudly over and over again in Varanasi.
I encountered these cows in Varanasi (India) – a special place for Hindus. It is home to the primordial lingam of Shiva and, of course, the Ganges River.
In India, cows are considered sacred. It is said that meditation becomes deeper and more peaceful in their presence. The cows there not only look beautiful, they… also radiate a special sense of calm – amidst the hustle and bustle of the streets.
The painting is framed with a black shadow gap frame.
