About this artwork
This image shows a cremation site in Varanasi. Smoke rises from the embers and dissolves into the darkness. Shapes blur, contours become atmosphere.
The title Om Tryambakam refers to the Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra, a prayer that does not deny death but acknowledges it as a threshold. It asks for protection, healing, and liberation – “from the mortal to the immortal” in a spiritual sense. Thus, the smoke becomes a symbol: not only for transience, but… for a path upward, for transformation and silent continuation.
Om Tryambakam holds the tension between fire and peace. The image serves as a reminder that everything that has taken form eventually loses its form – and that in this dissolution lies its own dignity and stillness.
