About this artwork
In this work, I experimented with monotype to reveal depth and structure. The abstract color fields and lines symbolize the beginnings of written characters, hidden behind a curtain of transparent, light color.

Bärbel Thürer is a painter, draftsman, and printmaker with extensive training at the Freiburg Academy of Fine Arts, supplemented by courses in Leipzig. She experimentally works in large and small formats on canvas, wood, and paper, utilizing collage, printmaking techniques, and layered surfaces of color and form for abstraction. Her works convey intense, multifaceted emotions and make invisible inner states visible—they invite the viewer to explore the unknown without fear.
