Nourished and strengthened by overcoming our hurdles or obstacles, feelings of dependency on our environment and its contradictions influence our perspectives. My Hurdles series of oil paintings is focused on the concept of spatial relationships; my aesthetic; my color pallet; and the juxtaposition of the organic with the abstract. I channel the emotionally-charged energy people generally respond with in a time of crisis to re-commit whole-heartedly…
to my creative process, facing each blank canvas with a combination of urgency, courage and excitement. Hurdles Unleashed is a study of dream-like metaphors of life’s impermanence, employing images of organic forms contrasted with harder-edged shapes, investigating contradictions, introspection, tension, reflection, and hope - on the part of the artist and the viewer.
