About this artwork
During my artist residency in New Orleans 2023, I lived in Marigny, near the French Quater, I absolutely wanted to go visit the swamps of Louisiana, better known as the Swamps or the Bayous. I was invited to a James Barbee photo exhibition opening at the Huracan gallery. This is how I first saw images of the Swamps. He invited me on the Swamps trip. In this work, I explore the mystical depths of the swamps, capturing the vibrant and wild essence… of nature reflected in the shimmering water. Using oil and sand, I textured each element to evoke total sensory immersion. Contrasts of bright and dark colors breathe energetic life, inviting the viewer to feel the quiet power of an unspoiled natural environment. This painting is a tribute to the raw and enigmatic beauty of aquatic landscapes, a reminder of the delicate balance between man and nature.
« My works are philosophical and precious. You sink into them; feel the force of nature and the author’s energy. »
