About this artwork
The eternal conflict between Eros and Thanatos, that is, between the instinct of life and that of death, has always accompanied our species. In the human soul and in nature there would be death drives, identified under the common name of Thanatos, and the impulses of life. the possibility of each of us to think and think about ourselves in the future, therefore to imagine it, even with idealizing impulses, and on the other, the difficulty, if not…
the impossibility, of doing so. What we all live during the pandemic in fact, in a certain sense, is a sort of death experience: no one knows with certainty the future scenarios of our existence. What will our life be like in a month, in six months, in a year? No one can say with reasonable certainty. To go out or not to go out? Open or close?
