About this artwork
My current work consists of acrylic paint, glue, and non-traditional materials on wood panel. The style is abstract and involves adding and removing components with traditional and non-traditional implements including power tools. The techniques employed result in a “layered” aesthetic that allows the viewer to see and imagine the work involved as well as my energy at the time of creation. Each mark is made in response to the marks previously applied.…

The work developed from contemplation of the balance between control and chance. Personal conflicts have given rise to the question “how much control do we really have?” While we make choices that set events in motion, we ultimately lose some of that control and must rely on circumstances playing out as they will.
