About this artwork
Abuse often hides beneath the surface. Makeup, everyday clothes, and a smile can easily mask the wounds, but the scars remain. The face is engraved onto coarse denim — the fabric of daily life — whose frayed edges symbolize the irreparable nature of trauma. The stitched mouth represents forced silence, the inability to speak out, while the candle below stands for the inner light, the resilience of the soul that continues to burn despite everything.…

Beáta Fekete-Vincze is a self-taught contemporary painter with a background in textile and fashion design. Working in acrylic, oil, and coffee-based mediums, she blends expressive realism with concept-driven abstraction. Her paintings explore vulnerability, resilience, and inner strength, using bold contrasts, layered textures, and dynamic brushwork.
Her works have been exhibited in group shows in Budapest, Dallas, and Vienna, digital exhibitions in Los Angeles, Vienna, New York, and Budapest, and on international online platforms (TERAVARNA Gallery, Golden Duck Gallery, Gallery4%, Open Calls for Artist). In 2026, one work will be shown in Dubai, two in Tokyo, and a solo exhibition in Hungary is in negotiation. Another work received an Honorable Mention at the TERAVARNA international competition.
