About this artwork
The apple is one of the oldest symbols in human history: the promise of original sin, knowledge, and power. In the biblical story of Eden, it represents temptation, awakening to self-awareness, and the loss of innocence. In Greek mythology, it becomes the source of conflict, while in fairy tales and royal symbols it stands for chosenness and authority. In this painting, the apple is golden, yet it holds no real power. It melts, flows, and slips away,… becoming impossible to control. The power it symbolizes can no longer be possessed; it turns consumable, false, and fleeting. The painting captures the moment when the human becomes vulnerable and greedy — when raw, instinctive hunger takes over and the sense of measure is lost. Here, the gold drips, smears, and covers everything. Greedily acquired power does not elevate; it stains, overwhelms, and ultimately proves impossible to hold. True value can only be preserved through humility and respect over time.
Beáta Fekete-Vincze is a self-taught contemporary painter with a background in textile and fashion design. Her paintings explore vulnerability, resilience, and inner strength, using bold contrasts, layered textures, and dynamic brushwork.
Her works have been exhibited in group shows in Budapest, Dallas, and Vienna, digital exhibitions in Los Angeles, Vienna, New York, and Budapest, and on international online platforms (TERAVARNA Gallery, Golden Duck Gallery, Gallery4%, Open Calls for Artist). In 2026, one work will be shown in Dubai, two in Tokyo, and a solo exhibition in Hungary is in negotiation. Another work received an Honorable Mention at the TERAVARNA international competition.
