About this artwork
This abstract bronze resin sculpture is the fourth in the series of Abstract Waves - this time in the horizontal plane. The overstepping breaker is dynamically moving forward growing in size, volume and power, from a thin tail to a great thickness.
The internal bright colour of the patination ( green or blue) contrasts with the dark exterior and emphasises and illuminates the inside of that large volume, and the airspace caught between parts of… the wave.
The exterior is expanding and moving - the interior space is still, small and protected - maybe the experience of a surfer?

« Beauty to me is simplicity, clarity, concentration and must extend beyond decorative prettiness. Beauty holds contradictions, tensions, and ambivalence, it is a balance kept despite conflict. »
