Often, for fun, the crew
Take albatrosses, vast sea birds
Who follow, indolent traveling companions,
The ship sliding over bitter abysses.
They hardly put them on the boards,
That these kings of the azure, clumsy and ashamed,
Pitifully leave their great white wings
Like oars dragging beside them.
This winged… traveler, how awkward and weak he is!
Him, once so handsome, how comical and ugly!
One annoys his beak with a firebreaker,
The other mimics, limping, the cripple who was flying!
The Poet is like the prince of the clouds
Who haunts the storm and laughs at the archer;
Exiled on the ground amid the boos,
His giant wings prevent him from walking.

Beatrice Van Ez-Le Perru is an award-winning French painter whose works have been extensively exhibited nationally, as well as in Italy and the United States. With a figurative style, she favors painting maritime scenes and is also inspired by 'silent lives' and landscapes. Trained in traditional techniques, Van Ez-Le Perru creates using pigments she blends in her studio.
