About this artwork
Love starts at home. I had a hard time taking photos of this project perhaps due to its size, textiles and shine, but it was a heartfelt creation. In this piece, I explored the teamwork within a family to create an atmosphere of love and protection for the generations to come. The heart of the father is made of velvet and is embroidered with little red beads. A string leaves the heart and flows out of the hands, which try to control its flow. Afterall,… a man is supposed to control his emotions. He is doing so by not letting his heart melt away all at once for he loves his family but must stay intact to protect them. His wife, meticulously weaves this love and adding her own to symbolically cover their offspring with the warmth that only unconditional love can provide. Her knitted cover is made from real knitting.
