About this artwork
In this work, I have captured the depth and dignity of a life lived, using acrylics and Indian ink. The realistic depiction is intended to deeply move the viewer and make visible the stories contained in every wrinkle. It brings a powerful, contemplative energy to any room and serves as a reminder that true beauty lies in experience.
The painting is a portrait of the great humanist Albert Schweitzer, who lived and worked not far from where I live.… Pictures of him show him as a rugged Alsatian with a striking face that testifies to his strength as a person and a humanist.
As a freelance artist, I live and work in Kehl am Rhein.
I intensively explore various artistic styles and primarily create small-format works, no larger than 40x50 cm. My preferred medium is acrylic paint on stretched canvas.

Bernd Stephanny is an artist who has learned the craft of drawing. He uses this background to constantly develop himself with mediums such as oil, pastel and watercolor. Through the traditional approaches of naturalism, he designs landscapes according to his own artistic tradition and creates characteristic traces and painting rhythms with generous brushstrokes.
