The term “pareidolia” describes the ability to recognize a face, human figure, or animal in abstract shapes such as clouds or mountains.
The picture shows "Pilatus". It is the local mountain of Lucerne in Switzerland. It has several peaks such as the Mittaggüpfi (1,917 m) and the Widderfeld (2,075 m).
The Pilate legend, which… originated in late antiquity, was particularly popular in the Middle Ages.
