About this artwork
This work originated at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kolbermoor. It is one of a series of three pieces in which Professor Lüpertz challenged me to explore forms. It is a powerful encounter of colors and shapes, intended to unite inner tension and harmony. The clear, abstract surfaces reflect the balance between dynamism and stillness. It brings energy and an intense presence to any space, inviting the viewer to delve into their own emotional depths… and discover new perspectives.
Birgit Egen, a master student of Prof. Markus Lüpertz, has lived and worked for over 20 years on Lake Ammersee near Munich. Her work unfolds along three main themes: the artistic exploration of emotion and fleeting moments, an experimental materiality, and the transformation of discarded materials into meaningful pictorial carriers imbued with history. The creative process follows an intuitive, organic dynamic that allows for spontaneous developments and produces works that explore the boundaries between form, texture, and emotion. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, including at the Copelouzos Family Art Museum in Athens, the Museum Stift Klosterneuburg near Vienna (where she was a finalist for the St. Leopold Art Prize), and at ArtExpo Paris. Solo exhibitions have taken her to Göttingen, Regensburg, and Munich, where her works were also presented in Marienplatz with the support of the city.
