About this artwork
Blue, blue, electric blue; that's the color of my room (where I will live). There's a lot of depth to this painting, a lot of layers, and things are starting to get a little weird(er?).
This is a large abstract painting on wood panel with acrylic paint and Sharpie marker with a variety of collaged elements nestled between layers of smeared, brushed, and poured paint and the painting has a very built up surface in areas, while in some spots you can… still see the wood grain.
This painting is a little bit about the toxic impulse of nostalgia, a little bit about processing the trauma of childhood, and a lot about finding a way forward by doing the work and finding a way to support new growth on the toppled ruins of the past.

Blake Brasher
United States
« My work is an attempt to suggest possible ways of being. It is a self conscious offering of answers while knowing that answers do not exist. »
Established American artistic Blake Brasher favors a messy, colorful and abstruct style of painting to offer his viewers alternative explanations into possible ways of being. Not satified with conventional explanations of why things are how they are, Blake's vibrant and sometimes brashy works provide a place for meditative thought, or, ideally, no thought at all.
Blake has honed his artistic talents through a number of residencies both in his native America and Europe. His works have featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions in the United States.
