About this artwork
This is a bright little painting in watercolor and acrylic ink on watercolor paper. This is a painting from 2013 and you can see some techniques that become more dominant in my future work. I'm using pouring techniques here, but without the pouring medium. I'm working wet on wet, and am interested in how the acrylic ink would eat into the still drying watercolor. I like how the bright colors in this painting sit next to each other and just barely…
mix together. Lots of variation in marks, from delicate watercolor washes to thin traces of ink lines to pools of ink poured into ink and left to dry. The painting feels playful, light, and full of joy.
Blake Brasher
United States
« My work is an attempt to suggest possible ways of being. It is a self conscious offering of answers while knowing that answers do not exist. »
Established American artistic Blake Brasher favors a messy, colorful and abstruct style of painting to offer his viewers alternative explanations into possible ways of being. Not satified with conventional explanations of why things are how they are, Blake's vibrant and sometimes brashy works provide a place for meditative thought, or, ideally, no thought at all.
Blake has honed his artistic talents through a number of residencies both in his native America and Europe. His works have featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions in the United States.
