About this artwork
The picture shows a fascinating composition of different materials. In the foreground there is a piece of driftwood made of olive wood, the fine grain and natural structures of which are clearly visible. Brigitte Schmitz-Kirschbaum began painting in oils 25 years ago, learning from various art teachers. After initially painting representationally, she later switched to abstract painting and, among other things, refined her palette knife techniques. When her interest in mixed media arose, she acquired knowledge of techniques and materials in various seminars, workshops, and master classes in the USA, Canada, Germany, and Switzerland. Brigitte Schmitz-Kirschbaum draws her inspiration from nature, which continually fascinates her with its variety of colors, shapes, and patterns.
